N95 mask: A respirator or a mask that filters out or blocks 95 percent of deleterious airborne particles is called an N95 mask; these airborne particles include infectious agents, viral diseases, bacteria, pollen, pollutants, contaminants, and a myriad of other diseases as well.

The N95 respirator prevents the user from inhaling such deleterious airborne particles that could cause numerous health problems like lung cancer, heart disease, cancer, and plenty of other health-related problems. It is 95 percent efficient at filtering out harmful airborne particles.

Frontline healthcare workers are those people who put their lives on the line to treat patients who have been infected by life-threatening and contagious diseases. Frontline healthcare workers include doctors, nurses, and other medical staff involved in treating and taking care of such patients. 

How N95 respirators keep frontline healthcare workers safe?

There had been several articles and reports circulating the internet when the COVID-19 began; those articles and reports said that there were several healthcare workers who were not provided with adequate amounts of N95 masks and respirators.

After complaining about the acute shortage of N95 masks, the higher authorities provided those healthcare institutes, hospitals, and nursing homes, etc. with sufficient proportions of N95 masks to keep them safe and protected while treating the infected patients.

When a healthcare worker, i.e. a doctor or a nurse, comes in contact or tries to treat or take care of an individual who has been infected by COVID-19; they have to physically come in contact with the infected individuals to treat them.

When those healthcare workers come in contact with an infected individual without wearing the N95 mask, they could breathe in the virus. This would never suppress the virus. Instead, the virus would spread more, more people would be killed, and this fatal virus would never come to an end.

To cope with this conundrum, healthcare workers must wear the N95 mask. This is because the N95 mask protects an individual from getting infected and spreading the disease further while taking care of the infected individual. 

When a healthcare worker takes care of an infected individual while treating them, the deleterious airborne particles could come out of the patient’s mouth, and the healthcare worker might inhale those hazardous airborne particles.

To avoid the danger of getting infected by COVID-19, frontline healthcare workers must keep themselves safe and protected while taking care of the patients who have been infected by this fatal and deadly virus.

The N95 respirators filter out the airborne particles that come out of an infected individual’s mouth and protect the infected patient from inhaling such airborne particles. It prevents the wearer from inhaling such hazardous airborne particles.

Healthcare workers often end up wearing the N95 respirator in the wrong way as a result of a lack of knowledge. Because of this ignorance and lack of knowledge, they end up getting themselves infected by this fatal disease, i.e. COVID-19.

The proper way to wear the N95 mask is to wear it tightly and achieve a tight facial fit so that the N95 mask is not loose around the face of the wearer as wearing it wrong could end up affecting the individual (the wearer) adversely. 

Therefore, it has been advised by the higher authorities to wear the N95 mask tightly to significantly reduce the chances of inhaling those harmful airborne particles. Similarly, it reduces the chances of getting an individual infected. 

Hence, frontline healthcare workers must wear N95 respirators correctly to keep themselves safe and protected. Furthermore, it is crucial for healthcare institutes and hospitals to keep ample amounts of N95 masks for the doctors and nurses who are treating infected patients. 

If healthcare workers are not provided with sufficient amounts of N95 masks, they would end up taking care of the infected patients without the N95 masks. After that act, they would get infected. As a result, the majority of healthcare workers would get infected.

Frontline healthcare workers would be vulnerable while treating infected patients without N95 masks. Frontline healthcare workers would get infected. If they would be infected, it would also mean they would not be able to take care of the infected patients.

As a result, the patients who have been infected by COVID-19 would be left untreated, and some of them would die. This would be a catastrophe for everyone, and thousands of people would lose their lives as a result of this fatal and deadly disease. 


Therefore, healthcare workers should wear N95 masks and take care of patients without getting infected. They should wear the N95 mask tightly, and they must wear the N95 masks to keep themselves safe from inhaling hazardous airborne particles.
