What Are The Rules for Stockpiling N95 Masks?

Stockpiling N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment have the solution that many individuals thought of at the start of the pandemic. It has been a solution of many countries all over the world to make sure that their population, or at least their front lines will have the right supply of the N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment.

In this article, we will be discussing some rules that countries and departments follow when they stockpile N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment and what you should follow at home when you are creating your own stockpile of N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment.

National Government Stockpile

The National Government has also set some requirements when it comes to stockpiling N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment. The following are the requirements set by the national government.

  • The following N95 masks, despite some being passed their manufacturer-designated shelf life may already be released from the stockpile: 3M 1855, 3M 1860, 3M 1870, 3M 8210, 3M 9010, 3M 8000, Gerson 1730, Medline/Alpha Protech NON27501, Moldex 1512, Moldex 2201.
  • Before using the stockpile, it is necessary for the user to “visually inspect the N95 to determine if its integrity has been compromised”.
  • The CDC/NIOSH also required that “Users should perform a user seal check immediately after they don each respirator and should not use a respirator on which they cannot perform a successful user seal check”.

Of course, these are the rules of the government when it comes time to open the national stockpile for use but the government is also very specific when it comes time for them to close the stockpile. Today, we see that there is still a shortage on the N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment and the N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment are all for use and no longer for stockpiling.

Now that the stockpiles are open and focused mainly on medical and health facilities, it is important for individuals to try out the N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment and have their own stockpiles at home.

Home Emergency Stockpile

You can also have your own emergency stockpile of N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment at home. You should only follow the following rules:

Make Sure That You Buy Enough For The Whole Household. One of the most common steps in creating your own stockpile is in first injury that you have enough for your needs. There is no sense in creating a stockpile if you are not able to provide for your own N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment needs.

Do Not Touch The Stockpile Except In Emergency Situations.  N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipmentKeep in mind that the stockpile you create is only for emergency situations and that it is not for any other situation that requires you to use it. The stockpile is for a crisis or a contingency at home when you no longer have access to stores or if the government once again decides to close down individual purchases of the N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment.

Make Sure That You Stop Stockpiling When The Supplies Are Enough. Another important thing for you to keep in mind is to stop stockpiling when you are already at the point where the supplies are already enough. This allows for the situation to be addressed and this allows for all her holes to create their own stock pile and for some stocks to reach those in the front lines.

Buy Only From Legitimate Sources. There is absolutely no sense for you to create a stockpile if you will not buy from a visit with sores or if you did not have supplies that are certainly legitimate and or authorized by the manufacturer and by the certified consents. Make sure that you buy from the best suppliers and from those who can really offer you the original N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment.

You Are Ready For Anything

If you already have a stockpile of N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment that is enough for you and your family, you should be all good. It is your responsibility now to make sure that individuals who also want to have their own stockpile of N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment will also be able to do so with little to no problem at all.

If you want to further help individuals, you can always donate the N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment to those who are really in the frontlines. Some individuals would donate some of their supplies to their local health department or to their local community hospitals in order to help out.

While others put their names on the donation for tax purposes, others also decide to do so anonymously just so the pressure is off and the feeling becomes altruistic. If you decide to be one of these people the only thing that you need would be a contact person inside of a city that you are donating and the main address of the facility. Once you have that, you can contact an online supplier for the main manufacturer to directly ship out the N95 masks, N95 respirators, and other personal protective equipment.
