Precautions for using N95 respirators:
Few precautions should not be ignored and put into consideration while using an N95 respirator, and they are,
- The N95 respirator is made to cover the face protectively with its secured edges so the patients of breathing problems such as chronic respiratory issues or other issues like heart problems and also who are facing other medicals states should not opt for N95 respirators before consulting their health doctor. With the covering of N95 respirator, it can get hard to breathe for such people.
- As N95 respirator has many models and some of them can provide exhalation of air easier that decreases the rate of building up of heat within with their different models of valves of breathing out. So N95 respirators which have advanced models of exhalation valves are not recommended for such conditions where sterilization is required.
- The N95 respirators are known to be disposable masks. If the respiratory you are using is damaged or broken, then it should be replaced immediately with a new one, and the damaged respirator should be thrown away. The proper way to get rid of the damaged respirator or the one which is sterilized is to secure it in a plastic wrap and then be discarded in the dustbin. Clean your hands afterwards to get rid of the additional harm.
- The N95 respirator is not manufactured for people who have hairs on their faces or for children. As these respirators are designed to give a proper fitting to the face but it cannot be achieved with such wearers. The N95 respirators may not be able to provide full protection as the edges of the respirator are not completely fitting on the face of the wearer. So they won’t be able to do their complete job as the respirators won’t work on such faces.
Difference between surgical masks and N95 respirators:
Surgical masks are a loose mask that doesn’t fit perfectly on the face; they are a barrier among the nose and the mouth of the people wearing them and all sorts of immediate condition pollution. The boundaries of the mask are not specially made to provide complete seal among the nose and the mouth. They are also known as face masks, but not all face masks can be originally called as surgical masks.
