Where should you store your surgical masks?

Surgical masks

Healthcare providers use surgical masks while taking care of patients who have been infected by infectious diseases. While conducting medical procedures, doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel use surgical masks. A medical face mask is a second term for surgical masks. The usage of surgical masks guards them against respiratory droplets and solid particulates that could cause several diseases to them.

During the novel coronavirus, the public has started using surgical masks for protection against infectious disease, and healthcare providers have started using N95 respirators. Surgical masks are less effective than N95 respirators; this is why medical personnel prefer using N95 respirators during COVID-19.

The novel coronavirus

The novel coronavirus has profoundly affected the world and changed how the world would work. Businesses have been trampled as a result of this disease, more than a million people have lost their lives as of now, and countries have gone under lockdown. The novel coronavirus—also known as COVID-19—is a respiratory illness that profoundly and adversely affects your health. It is a fatal disease even though its mortality rate is low. The best way to prevent this disease is to limit your exposure to crowded places and wear face masks.

Best places to store surgical masks

After COVID-19 has broken out in Wuhan, China—the utilization of face masks has risen. It has become a pivotal part of our life to wear surgical masks. Similar to how you would not leave your house without your mobile phone and wallet, during this time, you would not leave your house without covering your face with a face mask. Several infectious experts have recommended where you could put your face mask at your home when you are not wearing them.

Put your face mask in a dry place

The best place to store your face mask is to put it in a dry place. You must ensure that you do not put your everyday stuff in that place. For example, do not put your face mask next to your wallet, keys, or towels. Do not put it near your books, laptops, and other items. Put your face mask in a place where you do not put such things. Appoint a place for that face mask after use.

It could be a drawer that is different from the others, and it could be a cabinet. Keep your face mask away from things that you touch a lot. You could contaminate those other items if you end up coming in contact with them with your hands that are full of bacteria. The optimal place to put your face mask is the place where you do not often go. Do not put your clean face masks next to the diary ones as the dirty ones could contaminate the new face mask. Keep the dirty ones away from the clean ones.

Keep your face masks away from your family’s face masks

The best way to protect your face mask from contamination is to keep them away from your family’s face masks. If your brother has a face mask, put your face mask away from it. Do not keep your face mask close to your family's. If you did that, you could contaminate their face mask or vice versa. All of this reduces the chances of spreading the novel coronavirus.

Keep your face mask in a paper bag while going outside

You have to be careful in handling your face mask. Do not just throw it away with other items like your keys, wallet, and other things. Doing this might contaminate other things and vice versa. Therefore, do not keep your face masks near other items. Keep your face mask inside a paper bag while traveling outside. After putting it inside the paper bag, wash your hands thoroughly. You ought to keep your face mask inside a paper bag that is closed so that it does not get damaged, and it stays clean as well.

When you want to wear your face mask, hold it by your ear bands. Do not touch the outer and inner surface of your N95 respirator as it could have germs over its surface. That would spread the germs all across other items. Hence, hold your ear bands to wear your face mask. While traveling, if you want to take your face mask off, put it in that clean bag while folding it.

Cleanse your face masks a lot

You can wash your face masks. Medical personnel recommend that you can wear your face mask numerous times. However, the best way to do that is to sterilize your face mask by washing it with water. However, if your face mask gets damaged or soiled, you should throw it away. Do not wear a face mask whose surface looks damaged or soiled. Wearing such face masks could adversely affect your health, and you might end up contracting this fatal disease.

There are several disposable surgical masks. You must dispose of them after using them as these face masks have been manufactured for single use.

Conclusion

Face masks have become an integral part of our daily routine. If we do not wear them, we might be putting others at risk. Therefore, wearing face masks is mandatory. The optimal place to store your face masks is to separate them from different items and keep them inside a paper bag while traveling outside. Putting it near your wallet or keys could contaminate other items and spread the germs all across other things.
